Educating Girls to live in accord with Dharma

Director/Producer

Alena traveled to Thailand in 2017, visiting The Dhammajarinee Witthaya School for girls, which is a free Buddhist boarding school, serving orphaned, impoverished, and other disadvantaged girls who would otherwise have no opportunity for a quality education.

While there she was enlisted by the David Lynch Foundation to help create a film showcasing how this school has transformed the lives of these young girls.

While traveling in Bali, Indonesia Alena worked on a short film with Adam Pressmen the Director of Media Production and Development at the David Lynch Foundation they created a video to showcase the benefits the Transcendental Meditation technique had in the lives of students at the Bali Mandara boarding school for underprivileged children.

Mothers of Uganda

Alena documented a research study about women's empowerment. She filmed the lives of woman living in poverty in the heart of Kampala, Uganda. These women were single, illiterate mothers struggling to make ends meet. She captured the transformations that occurred after the introduction of the Transcendental Meditation technique.

Kennedy Hill

A short film set in the late 1930s, Kennedy Hill, follows 17 year-old Grace who finds out she’s adopted on the eve of her big senior year dance with boyfriend, Tuffy. In search of her birth family she journeys away from home to discover who her true family is.
